Roadmap: B.S. in Geology, General Concentration for Transfers

***FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS ***

This roadmap is for students who have transferred in fall of an odd-numbered year. It assumes the transfer students have completed all lower division General Education requirements and the lower division prerequisites to the major: Algebra, Trigonometry, Physics 1, Chemistry 1, Principles of Geology, and a History of Earth and Life course.

Geology is the study of the Earth, its structure, its processes, its history, and the history of its plant and animal inhabitants. Geology studies the movement of continents across the globe, the raising up and wearing down of mountains, the oceans, the atmosphere, the evolution of the dinosaurs, the discovery and use of mineral deposits, and the effects of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Possible career paths/fields of work include environmental geology, hydrogeology, engineering geology, education, petroleum and economic geology, field geology, science writing and editing, and environmental law.

This Roadmap is a recommended advising map to complete the degree program in two years. Please consult your academic advisor as you develop your academic plan.
