Roadmap: B.S. in Agriculture, Agricultural Business Concentration for Transfers

***FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS ***
By completing the following Roadmap, you will earn a BS in Agricultural Studies. Students should have completed a two-year Transfer with Associate’s Degree program, or a minimum of 60 units completing GE Areas A through E. This multidisciplinary program blends the contributions of a number of academic departments through upper-division core courses and four concentrations. The program encourages students to explore diverse approaches to agricultural production, distribution, and management in evolving economic and environmental settings. Experiential learning and applied research opportunities are offered through the concentrations.
The major fosters sustainable relationships with area community colleges through the implementation of a “2+2” program design. Individuals who have an A.S. degree or equivalent lower-division coursework in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics and closely related fields, and who complete the designated lower-division prerequisite courses, may participate in the program. Freshmen admitted to the major are dually enrolled in the university and an area community college agriculture program.
This Roadmap is a recommended advising map to complete the degree program in two years. Please consult your academic advisor as you develop your academic plan.

For a concentration in Agricultural Business, complete the following required courses in the concentration (12 units):
-> ECON 4200 Intermediate Micro Theory (3)
-> AGEC 3350 Agricultural Markets and Pricing (3 units),
-> AGEC/ECON 4690 Ag Finance (3 units), and
-> AGEC 3300 Farm Mgt/ECON 4331 Managerial Economics (3 units)
Choose two courses (6 units) from the following courses:
-> AGEC 3340 Agricultural Commodities Futures (3), or
-> AGEC 4320 Appraisal of Agricultural Property (3 units), or
-> ECON 4500 Economics of Investment (4 units), or
-> ECON 4560 Introduction to Econometrics (4 units).
Choose one upper division elective (minimum of 3 units) from the following courses:
-> ECON 4560 Natural Resource and Environment Econ (4), or
-> AGEC 3340 Agricultural Commodity Futures (3 units), or
-> AGEC 4320 Appraisal of Agricultural Property (3 units), or

Choose one Int’l Business and Economics course (minimum of 3 units) from the following courses:
