Message from the President

President Ellen JunnWelcome to California State University, Stanislaus. I am honored to be the 11th President of this University - a University known as an inclusive campus that values and embraces our rich diversity. We are committed to creating positive outcomes for under-served students, serving those who desire an education while advancing the region through our dedication to academic excellence and personal and professional growth.

At Stanislaus State, we serve a diverse population of more than 11,000 students at our two Central Valley locations - a beautiful 228-acre campus in Turlock and the Stockton Campus in the city’s historic Magnolia District. We are proud of the exceptional educational experience we offer for all students - providing them with the knowledge to fulfill their potential. The students we educate will become the leaders of our community, advancing the region through their success.

We are making an impact in our region and our ongoing commitment to building and maintaining strong partnerships continues to be recognized. Stanislaus State has been named to the national President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, is designated with the Carnegie Foundation’s Community Engagement Classification, has been listed on the Princeton Review’s “Best 386 Colleges” list for 15 straight years and has been on the U.S. News & World Report’s list of best public colleges for 25 consecutive years. We’re the No. 1 “Bang for the Buck” University in the West, according to Washington Monthly and ranked No. 55 nationally among public colleges in Money Magazine’s “Best College for the Money” rankings. We are also one of only five colleges in the country to rank in the top 20 of the CollegeNET Social Mobility Index for each of the report’s first four years.

Stanislaus State is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). Our student-to-faculty ratio is 19:1 - giving students access to Ph.D. and terminal degree faculty on a regular basis. We also support programs that provide opportunities for students to find success outside of the classroom with community partnerships, internship opportunities and mentor support.

Nearly 75 percent of our student body identify as first-generation college students - students who may need extra care and attention to traverse a college campus and navigate the road to a college degree. And under the Graduation Initiative 2025, the University aims to make the goal of earning a college degree more attainable by helping students achieve at an accelerated pace, to raise our four and six-year graduation rates.

Students who come to Stan State benefit not only from the breadth of undergraduate and graduate programs, but also from the wealth of clubs and organizations and the array of student services devoted to turning our college students into the most competitive professionals in the region.

At Stan State, we are proud to be a major center of learning, intellectual pursuit, artistic excellence and cultural engagement for California’s greater Central Valley. I am inspired by our vibrant students, faculty, staff and administration and stand alongside our community as we continue to support student success and advance our region.

Sincerely,

Ellen Junn
President
