Associated Students, Inc.

Associated Students, Inc., (ASI) is the student government for the University. As the official voice of the students, its mission is to strive to enhance the ever-changing campus and local community by instilling a sense of pride through service and events. Composed of student-elected representatives, ASI student government serves on university-wide committees and works closely with the campus community.

ASI offers the following programs and services: Student Government, Warrior Lobby Team, Student Government Leadership Council, Student Advocate, Warrior Merchandise and Marketing Services.

Additionally, ASI funds and sponsors a portion of Code Red Entertainment - an organization centered on programming and events for students. These groups include ASI Campus Pride and ASI Special Events. These groups plan and execute some of the University’s largest campus and community events including Warrior Day and Homecoming.

Athletics (Intercollegiate)

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 14 men’s and women’s teams that compete at the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division II level. Under the leadership of Athletics Director Michael J. Matoso and outstanding coaches, the Department has consistently competed at the highest level among members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Recent Successes include a 2014 West Region Championship in women’s soccer, 2014 National Champion in women’s 1500m, 2014 CCAA championship in men’s basketball; 2013 CCAA championship in women’s soccer; 2012 CCAA championship in men’s soccer; 2011 CCAA championship in women’s soccer, a 2009 national champion in men’s pole vault, a 2008 CCAA Championship and 2007 NCAA West Region championship in softball, and a 2007 conference championship in men’s golf. Cal State Stanislaus has won 14 national team championships, and its student-athletes have claimed 24 national individual titles.

Fall sports include men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball. Winter sports include men’s and women’s basketball and women’s indoor track and field. Spring sports include baseball, men’s golf, softball, women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. All current Stanislaus State students are admitted free for all home events.

The Life Skills Program was created to support the student-athlete and to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience within the context of higher education. The student athlete learns to assume responsibility for their educational experience. They are also encouraged to develop character, integrity and leadership skills. The five crucial areas of program focus are academics, athletics, personal development, career development, and community service.

Stanislaus States’ Department of Campus Recreation and the Student Recreation Complex are designed to enhance the student experience, and advance the educational mission of the university. Open to students paying tuition and fees, the Student Fitness Center and Stadium Track are also open to Faculty, Staff and Alumni with the available paid membership offerings. With a variety of recreational opportunities and state of the art equipment for individual workouts, group exercise offerings, and a recreational sports court, this is a great place to be on campus.

Campus Recreation consist of 3 major program areas offering on campus convenience to participate in physical activities that develop healthy lifestyle habits and grow social circles at the university.

  • Fitness Programs offer group exercise, personal training, fitness contests and guidance in the area of health-related fitness.
  • Intramural Sports provide contests in a variety of sports.
  • Outdoor Adventure offers Wilderness Adventure Rental Equipment (WARE), learning workshops, and information on area resources and treks.

The Office of Campus Recreation is proud to be an institutional member of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). NIRSA provides resources and professional connections that help our professional staff enhance the student experience at Stanislaus State. The ambition is to offer a variety of recreational programming that will provide a healthy and inclusive educational experience for the students and provide them leadership opportunities and student employment.

The Student Recreation Complex provides stadium and practice facilities for the Athletic Department’s Soccer and Track and Field teams. The SRC has been the host site of the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships, CCAA Championships, NCAA Soccer 1st round, High School Soccer and PDL Soccer.

Student Housing and Residential Life

The Residential Life Village is centrally located on campus, close to the Student Recreation Complex, athletic facilities, University Union, dining venues, classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, and the library. The Village, lets students immerse themselves in all aspects of the university experience while giving a plethora of support resources and guidance. Students may choose from a variety of living arrangements; there are four-bedroom apartments and two- and four-bedroom suites. Each suite or apartment has a living room, bathroom, and one, two or three-person bedrooms; balconies overlook a central courtyard. Apartments also include a full kitchen. The Village is designed to provide a sociable and supportive living-learning environment with privacy and security for 700 residents. Amenities include study spaces, a TV lounge, recreation room, laundry facilities, computer lab, a 200-seat dining facility, two swimming pools, covered bike storage, a basketball court and a volleyball court. Charges are all-inclusive and include fully furnished living spaces, a meal plan, utilities, programs and events, laundry, internet, TV cable and more.

Members of the community enjoy the convenience and ease of living on campus and are easily able to connect to their peers, as well as their faculty. Resident Assistants and Peer Academic Leaders reside on every floor and offer guidance and advice about integrating into the university. Peer-to-peer engagement and interaction make the residential life village a vibrant, diverse and welcoming atmosphere in which students are able to learn and grow as they pursue their academic and personal goals.

Student Leadership and Development

The Office of Student Leadership and Development is responsible for chartering and oversight of all clubs and Greek organizations, program oversight and coordination of the Faculty Mentor Program and New Student Orientation. In addition, the department offers students the following:

  • Coordinates the Student Leadership Program and the Warrior Leadership Series with multiple opportunities for leadership development and skill building
  • Advises student organizations, social fraternities and sororities, Greek Councils and other student organizations in planning, implementing and promoting events
  • Develops opportunities for student leadership and involvement

It is also the home of the Faculty Mentor Program, the Office of Student Leadership and Development and more than 80 student organizations, fraternities and sororities. Come to the office to learn more about:

University Student Union

The University Student Union, is a student-funded auxiliary, composed of student representatives on the USU Board of Directors. The USU is currently working on raising funds for an updated Student Union building and a portion of their upcoming events will be fundraisers to help “The Building for U” happen.

The USU building maintains several facilities that are available for use by campus and the community; including the Carol Burke Lounge/Computer Lab, Event Center, Game Room, and the Warrior Activities Center as well as the Lakeside, Stanislaus and Warrior conference rooms. The USU building also contains offices for the staff and members of Associated Students Inc., University Student Union, Service Desk, Code Red Entertainment, ASI & USU Marketing, and Student Leadership and Development.

Additionally, the USU funds and sponsors a portion of Code Red Entertainment - an organization centered on programming and events for students. These groups include USU Daily Events, USU Social Awareness, and the Weekend Warrior Program. These groups plan daily events as well as discounted weekend trips to enhance student life on and off campus.

USU Service Desk

The Service Desk located inside the Warrior Activities Center in the University Student Union and offers many services to meet student, staff, and faculty needs in a helpful and efficient manner.

This is where you can pick up your Warrior ID Card as well as purchase prints, copies, fax, scans and more. Additionally, students can request specially ordered balloons for a small fee that can be delivered anywhere on campus. Discounted tickets for movie theaters, Boomers, Great America, 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom and Bus Passes for both Stanislaus and Merced County can also be purchased at the Service Desk.

The USU Service Desk is open, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-8:00pm, and Friday’s 8:00am-5:00pm. Summer and Winter hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00am-3:00pm.
