Criminal Justice B.A.

The student may request that the criminal justice faculty waive up to 9 upper-division units of criminal justice coursework based on documented completion of related college coursework and/or work experience.

Requirements


3. For concentrations in Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Juvenile Justice


Complete no less than 40 upper-division units in Criminal Justice and specific Sociology courses.

4. For the Criminal Legal Studies concentration


Complete no less than 41 upper-division units in Criminal Justice and specific Sociology courses.

5. For the Forensic Science concentration, complete no less than 48 upper-division units.


The degree in Criminal Justice with a Forensic Science concentration requires the completion of no less than 64 units total.

6. Maintain a grade point average of 2.00 or better in the major.


Completion of a minor is not required.

The Major


(40 upper-division units)

Complete one of the following concentrations:


  • Law Enforcement
  • Corrections
  • Forensic Science
  • Juvenile Justice
  • Criminal Legal Studies

Law Enforcement Concentration


(19 units minimum)

The following are required to complete the Criminal Justice major (56 units total) with a Law Enforcement concentration:

  1. Lower-division prerequisites, 16 units
  2. Core courses, 21 units
  3. Concentration courses, 19 units

Corrections Concentration


(19 units minimum)

The following are required to complete the Criminal Justice major (56 units total) with a Corrections concentration:

  1. Lower-division prerequisites, 16 units
  2. Core courses, 21 units
  3. Concentration courses, 19 units

Criminal Legal Studies Concentration


(20 units minimum)

The following are required to complete the Criminal Justice major (57 units total) with a Criminal Legal Studies concentration:

  1. Lower-division prerequisites, 16 units
  2. Core courses, 21 units
  3. Concentration courses, 20 units

Forensic Science Concentration


(25-27 units minimum)
