CJ 4915 - Sex Crimes and Gender Issues in Criminal Justice

(3 Units)
Focuses on crimes perpetrated against women, the criminal justice system’s response to such crimes, gender disparity in sentencing, gender disparity in corrections, sexual discrimination, and sexual harassment in the criminal justice system. Discussion and research will center on historical and contemporary issues of gender-based criminality, the victimization of women, and on such crimes as stalking, forcible rape, molestation, prostitution, and incest. Consists of lecture, discussion, case study and legislative analyses, examinations, and socio-legal research and writing.

Prerequisites: CJ 2250 and CJ 2280, or consent of instructor.
